Relating to each other on an empathetic and human level is pivotal to cultivating long lasting relationships. Learn how commonly perpetuated stereotypes and turns of phrase can be deeply harmful\, even when they seem innocuous to the average person. \nGoals\n-Develop an understanding of how microaggressions contribute to the oppression of marginalized people.\n-Learn to readily identify different types of microaggressions and how to call them out in your day to day life. \nAfter our presentation from the GSBA\, the floor will be open for you to ask questions to gain a better understanding of these topics. Gather with like-minded people in our Valley community\, make new friends\, and feel supported as we gain a deeper understanding of these topics together. \n\nThis event is FREE to the public because of the generous donations we have received from our community.  \nEquality is good business.\nAll Ages Event.

Black\, Macy Marcs\, Holli B. Sinclair\, and Melody Lush Paradisco! Our Queens will perform for you\, and in between their sets we will host fun haunted games with audience participation! Do you have an awesome costume? Well\, dress up and compete in our Costume Contest! A Grand Prize will be awarded for the best costume too! \nDrag has a rich cultural history that spans across decades\, it has transformed from a common theatre practice to a political stand against fixed roles of gender and sexuality. Whilst drag has maintained a powerful presence in entertainment\, it also deserves recognition for being an example of an expressive and empowering art form. It is a form of performance and art and should be considered as such. It combines skills of fashion and facial/bodily metamorphosis to create the illusion of a gender. Drag queens exude femininity and female empowerment through their appearance. Ultimately\, drag is about becoming a whole new person\, freed by concepts of gender and sexuality. Learn how to introduce yourself with your pronouns and learn how and when to ask for others. \nCurrent Climate for LGBTQ+ Folks\nMarriage equality was affirmed by the Supreme Court in 2015\, but how does this translate into our community? Bathroom bills never seem to stop trending and what does gender X even mean? Explore the larger picture of LGBTQ+ issues and where we are going next. \nGoals\n-Understand the difference between gender\, sexuality\, gender expression\, and gender identity.\n-Learn how to use\, ask for\, and explain pronouns.\n-Learn how to react after accidentally misgendering someone. \nAfter our presentation from the GSBA\, the floor will be open for you to ask questions to gain a better understanding of these topics.
