DESCRIPTION:Warren Dunes plays PNW Tropicalia and is led by keyboardist/vocalist Julia Massey. Their unique style of Beach Rock is born from the cold waters and grey sky beaches of the Salish Sea\, and is highlighted by Massey’s double keyboards and crystalline voice soaring over chiming guitars and thundering drums from husband Jared Cortese and his brother Dominic Cortese.  A long-time favorite in Seattle\, Massey’s newest project has gained broader attention with performances at festivals around the PNW including Treefort Music Fest\, and notable performances at Seattle’s Zoo Tunes and the historic Neptune Theater. Most recently their debut LP “Get Well Soon” was voted KEXP’s #20 album of 2021. DESCRIPTION:Hi Crime is a Seattle-based indie-pop group that began as a recording project between songwriters Brielle Rutledge and Mitch Etter. The duo met in the summer of 2015 and quickly began work on what would become their first release. The Foreign Hours EP was written\, recorded\, and mixed entirely in the duo’s bedrooms over the fall months while Rutledge finished college\, commuting back every few weeks to record. \nThe EP earned attention from KEXP\, and other NW media outlets\, inspiring the duo to expand to a four-piece and begin performing live. The expanded lineup provided a burst of new energy\, propelling the band into work for their debut full-length album\, The Kids Still Got It\, released on June 29\, 2018. Our guest speaker will share the powerful tale of the first two spirits\, who embodied both masculine and feminine energies\, and how their journey sets the stage for the harmonious balance within the universe. \nBut this event is not just about storytelling; it’s also a space for spiritual healing and self-discovery. DESCRIPTION:Willow and Wood is Willow Scrivner and Kevin Wood\, a married couple who create a sonic landscape of both solitude and beauty\, hovering between the warmth of Americana and the cool darkness of dream pop. The band’s music is transcendent: both a study of the geography of place\, and the constant search for home. Their songs ache with both hope and a broken heart. Those contradictions are at the core of what makes the band so special. Falling somewhere between indie pop and indie folk\, they have created a sound rooted in a West Coast reverb-drenched loneliness\, dripping with southern humidity and darkness – and determined to find the magic. \nThe Black Feathers\, made up of Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler first became aware of the magic between them while collaborating on several musical projects\, becoming The Black Feathers and life partners in 2012. Americana\, Folk\, and Acoustic Indie Rock sensibilities coexist comfortably in their musical world\, with Hughes’ guitar work buoying the kind of harmonies often only heard in family bands. DESCRIPTION:Livable Carnation\, a non-partisan group of downtown friends and neighbors focused on improving Carnation’s climate resiliency\, increasing tree canopy\, and other public health and safety issues\, would like to invite you to informally meet and mingle with the candidates running for Carnation City Council. This will be an opportunity to get to know the candidates in a casual\, relaxed environment. Each candidate will have the option to give a brief introductory statement and speak on how they plan to address\, or how they’ve been addressing\, the climate crisis facing our city. The rest of the evening they will be available to discuss more specifics with friends and neighbors one-on-one.  \nPlease join us! Wine\, beer\, and non-alcoholic drinks will be sold.   \nThis is a citizen sponsored event. Election Day is Tuesday\, November 7th!  Be sure you’re registered to vote! \n
