SUMMARY:Smokey Brights (acoustic) with Kevin Sur
DESCRIPTION:Fronted by husband and wife duo Kim West (keys and vocals) and Ryan Devlin (guitar and vocals\,) Smokey Brights is a rock band out of Seattle\, Washington. The couple’s entrancing bond shines through in their deeply personal cowriting as well as their ecstatic live performances. Smokey Brights were early signees to Freakout Records\, along with fellow Seattle psych-rockers Acid Tongue\, after gaining the love of legendary NW station KEXP. Produced by Andy Park (Death Cab for Cutie\, Noah Gunderson\, Ciara\, Mac Miller)\, the band’s newest full-length\, I Love You But Damn\, walks a fine line between gritty NW rock and stately arena ready pop. Smokey Brights tirelessly toured and intensely demoed in their basement home studio leading up to recording I Love You But Damn\, and their devotion to their craft is unmistakable in every track. \nhttps://www.smokeybrights.com/ \nKevin Sur is a Native Hawaiian songwriter and composer\, who is most known locally as the founder of Artist Home who produces such festivals as Timber! Outdoor Music Festival. Kevin has spent a great deal of his life as a touring musician in a variety of bands\, most recently Indian Valley Line\, and in 2018\, released “The Love Between”\, a collaboration with celebrated composer and violinist\, Andrew Joslyn. \nhttp://kevinsur.bandcamp.com/ \n*Tickets are nonrefundable\, unless show is cancelled\, or rescheduled.   \nAll ages. \nBeer\, wine & nonalcoholic drinks available. \nCovid-19: Per King County Guidelines\, we will no longer be asking for proof of vaccination\, or enforcing any mask mandates.  We strongly encourage and support each individual in making the choice that is best for them.  Please contact us if you have any questions regarding these new guidelines. \n

SUMMARY:Susan Ruth and Rick Latona

In 2006\, she made the move to Nashville\, Tennessee and has since penned songs in multiple genres\, including: pop\, country\, rock\, AAA and Euro dance. She currently resides in Santa Monica\, CA. \nSusan Ruth \nSnoqualmie Valley’s own Rick Latona got into music playing his forlorn guitar with his friends on porches both front and back\, inspired by the sweet sounds of his strongest initial influences: The Devil Makes Three and Old Crow Medicine Show. \nHe got his first dollar busking on the streets of Pike Place Market and he was hooked. Today he continues his time-honored musical propensities as a solo artist as well as a member of The Latona Family Band and The Amber Lanterns. \n*Tickets are nonrefundable\, unless show is cancelled\, or rescheduled. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Carrie Clark and the Lonesome Lovers
DESCRIPTION:Fresh off a European tour\, Seattle Band\, Carrie Clark and the Lonesome Lovers are celebrating their recent release\, Split at the Seams\, with a post-pandemic-in-person-celebration at Miller’s. Carrie Clark and the Lonesome Lovers draw from the broad palettes of Americana\, folk\, and rock to craft their own distinct flavor of modern pop honkey-tonk. On their new LP\, Split At The Seams\, their years of creative collaboration shine through with a warm\, in-the-pocket confidence. Much like the Salish Sea which they call home\, Split At The Seams is expansive\, just a touch rugged\, and undeniably beautiful. \n“Dance Dance Dance” an explosive folk song topped with a colorful gypsy style instrumental breakdown. Clark sings with fantastical imagery that rekindles a sense of savior and style reminiscent of Balkan Beat Box jamming with Gillian Welch. Glide Magazine \nCarrie Clark \n*Tickets are nonrefundable\, unless show is cancelled\, or rescheduled. \n

SUMMARY:Uncle Bonsai
DESCRIPTION:“A folk-pop trio from Seattle\, performs funny original songs whose exquisite musical detail and subtle needling wit attain a level of craft not often seen in pop” – NY Times \nImagine what might happen if Tim Burton and Edward Gorey hijacked the Andrews Sisters en route to a Stephen Sondheim festival with The Beatles and Tom Lehrer in the sidecar; you’d get Seattle super-harmonizers Uncle Bonsai. With just three voices and an acoustic guitar\, Uncle Bonsai presents an often dizzying vocal array of intricate harmony. Their songs\, dark and hilarious at times\, just as often delight with moments of great insight and beauty. The trio aligns itself with the under-achiever\, the dejected\, the outsider\, the black sheep. Densely-packed lyrics fly by in a whirr at times\, and take a skewed stance on topics such as first-world problems\, the creation of the universe\, the afterlife\, and\, of course\, holidays with the family. Uncle Bonsai’s acoustic folk-pop songs are almost one-act plays or short stories\, resisting strict pop\, folk\, or singer-songwriter categories. Their songs focus on the passing of time\, the passing of genes\, and the passing of pets – the truth of everything seemingly buried somewhere under the family tree. \nThe group has eight recordings\, a reversible/hard cover book for parents (and their kids)\, and is currently preparing an all-new show\, “Seven Sins\, Seven Wonders\, Seven Dwarfs\,” a 25-song song cycle which will premiere in March 2023. \nIt’s been over a decade since Uncle Bonsai visited Carnation and now\, finally\, the trio returns to Miller’s to celebrate their 41st Anniversary. Expect songs from four decades of performing/recording\, including the most recent releases “The Family Feast: The Study of the Human Condition\, First World Problems\, and the Lasting Physiological and Psychological Effects of Eating Our Young” and “The Grim Parade.” But that’s not all; Uncle Bonsai will be performing a few songs from the aforementioned “Seven Sins\, Seven Wonders\, Seven Dwarfs” song cycle including perhaps — shhh\, it’s a secret — a world premiere or two! \n“Singers Ratshin\, O’Neill and Adler are pitch-perfect in their delivery of often complex harmonic arrangements. And if there were an Ella Fitzgerald Award for Exquisite Elocution in Song\, they would surely get it. The trio officially bills itself as a “folk” outfit\, but has none of the naiveté that label might suggest. These are nicely edgy\, sour-sweet songs\, written for grown-ups.” – The Seattle Times \nUncle Bonsai Home Page \n*Tickets are nonrefundable\, unless show is cancelled\, or rescheduled.  Tickets are fully transferable. \n

SUMMARY:Fretland (solo) with Zan Fiskum
DESCRIPTION:Fretland\, a new addition to the Seattle Americana scene\, play songs that sway between steel-soaked yearning and Lynchian intimacy\, a sound where fragile alt-country builds to passionate gushes of indie rock. From the riverside town of Snohomish\, Washington\, Fretland has racked up more than a million streams with their aching ballads.  www.fretlandtheband.com \nZan Fiskum was raised in the small town of Maple Valley\, WA where she spent most of her time either running barefoot in the forest or volunteering with her family at a local dinner theater\, both of which inspired her to make the music she is today. Her angelic voice soars over her soulful and ethereal storytelling. Reminiscent of artists Lana Del Ray and Brandi Carlile\, she blends the lines between indie/pop and americana/folk as she writes about childhood trauma\, the intricacies of family dynamics\, connection to the natural world as well as a fan-favorite: love.  www.zanfiskum.com \n*Tickets are nonrefundable\, unless show is cancelled\, or rescheduled.  Tickets are fully transferable. \n

SUMMARY:Massy Ferguson
DESCRIPTION:For more than a dozen years\, Massy Ferguson have proudly planted their boots on both sides of the country-rock divide\, carving out their own brand of amplified Americana along the way. Based in Seattle\, they’ve become international torchbearers of a sound that’s distinctly American\, with a touring history that spans nine different countries. On their fifth album\, Great Divides\, they double down on their rock & roll roots\, mixing bar-band twang with raw\, guitar-driven bang. \nGluing those sounds together is the songwriting partnership of bass-playing front man Ethan Anderson and guitarist Adam Monda\, whose songs spin stories of small-town adolescence\, big-city adulthood\, and the long miles of highway that stretch between. \nMassy Ferguson (massyfergusonband.com) \n*Tickets are nonrefundable\, unless show is cancelled\, or rescheduled.  Tickets are fully transferable. \nBeer\, wine\, and non-alcoholic beverages available.  Food can be brought in from area restaurants.  No outside drinks please. \nAll ages. \n

The result is true American roots music that combines the soulful edge of tradition with the Pacific Northwest’s legacy of freedom and innovation. \n “Talbot pushes our understanding of our selves through the intensity of his songcraft. Even the instrumental tracks are enough to make you stop what you’re doing and listen.” – No Depression    \nwww.nathanieltalbot.com \nSoulful Americana artist Brittany Collins writes songs that are equal parts heartbreaking and hopeful. Her hauntingly powerful voice evokes imagery of the rugged mountainous landscape where she was raised and still lives in the Pacific Northwest. SUMMARY:Byland and Bryan John Appleby
DESCRIPTION:Byland is the moniker and last name of Seattle based\, Albuquerque raised\, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist\, Alie Renee. Her latest studio record\, “GRAY”\, is brilliantly “a little weird” and breathes intriguing and often offbeat arrangements. Alie’s cinematic\, indie-rock sound is tethered by timeless songwriting and attentive production. Her music is grounded by vocally vulnerable moments that will move you to lean in and open yourself up. \nAfter releasing her studio record\, “Gray” in late 2020\, Byland received recognition from outlets like KEXP\, American Songwriter\, and Pop Matters\, among others. The record was co-written with her partner\, Jacob John and produced by Nathan Yaccino\, along with additional mixing by Andy Park. Notable contributors alongside Alie include a lineup of powerful females – Jessica Dobson (Deep Sea Diver)\, Meagan Grandall (Lemolo)\, and Abby Gundersen. \nAfter having spent two in Albuquerque\, Alie moved back to Seattle in early 2022\,\nwhere she is currently working on her second studio record with partner and co-writer\, Jake\, and Producer\, Nathan Yaccino. \nwww.bylandmusic.com \n  \nBryan John Appleby is an independent folk artist living and working out of Beacon Hill\, Seattle. He regularly tours the western states\, performing both solo and with a band. His production pallet draws from elements of psychedelia\, wall-of-sound\, classic cinema\, shoegaze\, tropicalia\, and mid-century pop. \nSince moving to the Pacific Northwest from the Central Coast\, he has played and toured with Damien Jurado\, Deep Sea Diver\, Y La Bamba\, The Head and the Heart\, Sera Cahoone\, Tomo Nakayama\, Pure Bathing Culture\, and Blitzen Trapper. He also plays drums as a guest member in a variety of West Coast bands including Prism Tats\, Tomten\, Fine Arts\, and K Skelton. \nHis third full-length album\, Underwater Easy Breathing (Plume Records) is now available. Lush\, coastal\, synth-laced; the album is a natural next step in Appleby’s meandering\, often densely layered folk repertoire. In addition to recording most of the record alone in a SODO rehearsal space\, significant portions were finished with friends (Dillon Sturtevant\, Nicholas Wilbur\, Tomten) at the Unknown Studio in Anacortes\, WA. \nwww.bryanjohnappleby.com \n*Tickets are nonrefundable\, unless show is cancelled\, or rescheduled.  Tickets are fully transferable. \nBeer\, wine\, and non-alcoholic beverages available.  Food can be brought in from area restaurants.  No outside drinks please. \nAll ages.

SUMMARY:Jim Page and Matthew Ryder

I’m a longtime admirer.”  The late Utah Phillips said: “If you’re ever going to get the message\, this is the messenger to get it from.” \nhttps://jimpage.net \n*Tickets are nonrefundable\, unless show is cancelled\, or rescheduled.  If you cannot attend a show\, tickets can be transferred from purchaser to another individual\, or individuals. SUMMARY:Visuals by Henn Haus III
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a community event celebrating a section of our Valley’s history that is not commonly viewed. Our beloved iconic Hippie\, Henley Henn Haus\, 1st waded into the Tolt River in 1970. Over the next 4 decades he became an integral part of our community’s culture\, celebrations & history. Henley was a marvelous photographer & during his time here he documented countless aspects throughout our community. Henley also was an avid creator. He hosted countless events on his beloved property up Tolt River Rd from music festivals\, potlucks\, weddings\, campouts\, & tours through the property he coined “The Yard Art Gallery” which showcased the over 200 wood sculpters that Valley local\, Kenny Chapman\, carved with his chainsaw. Henley also hosted a Beach Volleyball tournement every Sunday from May to October for 26 years. Which he coined\, “Valleyball.” At this point\, the property\, known now as “Club Tolt” has influenced thousands of lives. From longtime locals\, to new Valley residents\, to people just passing through. On April 8th\, we’ll journey back in time to an era of The Valley not seen by many. We’ll have a slide show depicting the journey of The Valley from this era\, we’ll have local art on display that Henley created through collaboration with a number of local artists & musicians.
