DESCRIPTION:Willow and Wood is Willow Scrivner and Kevin Wood\, a married couple who create a sonic landscape of both solitude and beauty\, hovering between the warmth of Americana and the cool darkness of dream pop. The band’s music is transcendent: both a study of the geography of place\, and the constant search for home. Their songs ache with both hope and a broken heart. Those contradictions are at the core of what makes the band so special. Falling somewhere between indie pop and indie folk\, they have created a sound rooted in a West Coast reverb-drenched loneliness\, dripping with southern humidity and darkness – and determined to find the magic. \nThe Black Feathers\, made up of Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler first became aware of the magic between them while collaborating on several musical projects\, becoming The Black Feathers and life partners in 2012. DESCRIPTION:Small Paul was born in a Seattle basement In the early days of COVID as a happy accident between housemates Kevin Murphy from The Moondoggies\, Chris King and Malcolm Roberts from Chris King & The Gutterballs with Seth McDonald from All Star Opera. \nWhat started out as casual music chairs between friends overtime blossomed into a four headed creative monster. During the long strange days of quarantine the project’s ease and freedom allowed for productive hours of symbiotic collaboration and summoning songs for strange times. \nThe Four songs from Small Paul’s debut “Strangeland” reflect ideas of traveling forward\, movement and self reflection.The images of the road that rolls under us as we push ahead through grief\,change\,isolation\, and the passing of time and people. \nThe EP at its core captures the band playing together live.Kevin and Chris trade lead vocal and drum/guitar duties\, with Malcolm contributing backing vocals for Small Paul’s three part harmonies as well as bass and Seth coloring the songs with keys. \n‘Strangeland’ EP\, is mixed by Seattle veteran\, Erik Blood (Shabazz Palaces\, The Moondoggies)\, and recorded by Bradford Button at Barndoor studio. It is a form of performance and art and should be considered as such. It combines skills of fashion and facial/bodily metamorphosis to create the illusion of a gender. Drag queens exude femininity and female empowerment through their appearance. Ultimately\, drag is about becoming a whole new person\, freed by concepts of gender and sexuality.
