Andrea Baker is a Seattle area singer-songwriter known for weaving music, story, and table into a story-forward, piano-driven Americana music experience. Released just before the pandemic, the songs on Baker’s last album, Wild in the Hollow, were born of deep conversation with lifelong friends, beautiful interactions with folks across the wild Pacific Northwest, and the unexpected and sacred gift of a really great therapist. The roots, though, came out of the Ohio River mud that underpins Baker’s southern Indiana birthplace. Indeed, a sense of longing, of a need to get back to the grit of the earth, pervades the record. These songs feel like the satisfaction of a little dirt on your hands, a running river, the swaying of corn, creaking wooden porches, and gravel roads. “That’s my hope anyway,” says Baker, “that it’s place of honesty and vulnerability where you can take off your boots and just make yourself at home.”
